I eventually started counting how many times each morning she'd have to turn the key over to start it. The stubborn engine.

How I miss those wintertime cold starts! My ex girlfriend had a Ford Tempo. We didn't live in a large complex like the one pictured, but our apartment's bathroom window gave me the perfect vantage point many mornings when she was leaving for work. Her Tempo had fuel injection and always started easily, yet she typically spent a minute or so revving it up before she drove off. So sexy! Now and then, that cutie would spend extra time revving the engine while it was warming up. There were times she used to hold the pedal steady and keep her engine racing at 3-4000 RPM for a while. She occasionally would perform quick full throttle revs as well, and seemed to like briefly redlining the engine.

Great memories, I've seen Tempos be temperamental. Yes, I can relate. Even before I started getting rides in this car, I could sometimes hear her trying to start it, but it wasn't a thing for me, until I began getting rides in that car. After a while, if I heard her car outside I'd listen. LAs time passed on, I'd try to be outside in time, and a few times made up excuses for a ride on Saturday along her way. Winters, watching her glove turn that key again and again, car half covered in snow or ice sometimes.

Oh my friend it was great times, cranking session guaranteed the only question was for how long. I remember one time after a snow storm going out to parking lot Sunday night just to see her car covered in snow, knowing the next day I'd be inside. For some reason it just looked more hopeless covered with snow. Then the next morning walking with her towards her car - covered in snow. I would then throw my bag inside and grab her snowbrush to clear the snow while she got in and began her battle. Outside I could hear her pumping the gas pedal before turning the key over. The first crank was always a slow beginning and then picked up a bit. From outside I could see a small puff of exhaust fume slowly coughing, coming out of the exhaust with each crank. Some days I liked to be outside and cleared the snow slowly and watching from different angles, other times I rushed it to be inside before she got it started.
