I know it's been a while since I posted last but this is a question that I need to ask. Is the bigger the engine the better or is smaller the better to hold at redline? If you all remember I had a 2003 Intrepid which I killed and had crushed(nothing like seeing a pretty much brand new car crushed). Now I have a white(with a pink pinstripe)1985 Camaro Iroc-Zwith a 350TPI engine that sounds great when being held at redline. But I also have a 1991 Geo Metro 5 speed 3 cylinder that also sounds great at redline. So what do you guys think it better for hard revving V8 or 3cyl????????????????

as nice as the camaro would sound i think if you would blown an engine you rather have it happen in the geo.

Actually I don't care if I blow the engine or not. I blew the engine in the Intrepid. It's kinda like Russian Roulette will it blow this time or not type thing. Also to me a car is a car, so if it breaks have it hauled away and get another plain and simple. This is my second Iroc-Z(may the first one Rest In Pieces) Well thanks for the reply.

Well heck!! If you don't care....the IROC -Z would be the best sounding revving at redline.....A 3 cyl engine really sounds more like a sewing machine anyway....Maybe you could rev with it and send it to one of those sewing pedal pump sites!!!

I think I love you....and I don't even know you.  I can only imagine your pretty feet punishing those cars.  My vote is for the GEO......I like listening to cars that don't seem to enjoy being revved more than those that do.  If you ever want to chat my email is johngelsomino@yahoo.com and my yahoo handle is johngelsomino.....

V8s are the best; more power, deeper growl, exhaust blast, etc.  When a woman is revving hard on a V8, it gets that power/control thing going.

I like old V8 engine revving and actually don't care much for revving in new cars with light engines. However, for me, king is the old VW aircooled engine (in the rear of bugs or hippy vans). These engines, especially 1600cc and smaller make loud noise (especially if the exhaust is a bit crappy) and just beg to be revved harshly. I would just love seeing a girl revving an old clappery, sputtering volkswagen bus to death. Her foot on the large floor-mounted, hinged gas pedal.
Rev that old VW!!!

The BEST car I ever revved up was a friend's 6.7 litre V8 Lincoln V when me and b/f visited a few years ago. The TORQUE in the thing was awesome - and I have NEVER spun my tires so EASY!!
Oooops! - I"m stuck!! My tires are spinning in the mud!!!!

Sorry I have not been on in a while, I forgot my password. Anyway I now have 4 Camaros. They are a 68 RS/SS 396 4speed, 1978 Z28 350 auto, 1986 Z28 305 5speed, and a 2000 SS LS1 6speed. I love revving them all as hard as they can go. I will post more later.

rumor has it the camaro may be back as a 2007 or 2008 model. witht eh recent surge of the new mustang GM realizes dropping the camaro in 2000 was a big no-no. me i didn;t care. i love gm but always hated the camaro's.. it was that scene in bullitt (steve mcqueen) with the mustang that always had me in love with that ford car.

Willy, Cindy's hubby....

Another old thread I have to add to..

Mustangs have a good sound, but I go back to the 50s and 60s, when glasspacks were big.

To me, nothing sounds better than a Mustang that had duals added. To do this, you just cut the Y-pipe at the tranny and added a pipe on each side.

The secret here was that there was no crossover pipe.. each side was isolated. This made for fantastic pipe rapping.

If you went all the way, you would pull the intake and block off the heat crossover under the carb...

Two very important things happen when you do this.

First, the dual exhaust is fully separated now.. maximum rapping.......

Second, and MOST IMPORTANT - the carb has no heat... and if you do the right thing with the automatic choke, your sweetie is now going to have the most cold-blooded engine in the world.. we're talking MEGA pedal pumping to get it started... and to keep it running.

This, along with the glasspacks, makes for the best fireworks show you'll ever see... if your girl is really into revving, it's heaven!!! (Cindy has assured me that if I do this to her '71 Mustang convertible, she'll do her best to blow it up!)

Cindy"s trying to blow up her red Mustang convertible again!!!! That little V8 sounds like the 4th of July!!!!! She"s had it floored for.........!!

Sorry I have not been on in a while, I've been VERY busy. Anyway. Now have a Mustang that I have added to my fleet of vehicles, it's a 78 Mustang II King Cobra 302 4BBL 5 speed, very fun car to drive and a BLAST to rev, straight piped exhaust no mufflers at all. Anyway, talk to you all later.

Hi

Personnaly, I liked very much reviing with the Dodge Charger .

On Youtube , I like a clip with a red Charger ( name General Lee for a show) with a lot of backfires: the engine is very long to warm up and I watch this clip ....smelling some petrol !

In France in the 70's, we had the Citroen GS : the first models were long to warm up an the reviing was nice and noisy: these engines were built like race engines but these cars were sold for normal drivers: men or women who had bad memories to rev in cold mornings.

After some years, the new models were easier to start and warm up, but the noise still exciting

Re:What engines are better for hard revving?

I love the sound of old V8 engines. Quite some time ago, I had a GF with an old 1962 Buick Invicta station wagon. This was the back in the 70's mind you, but I can still remember it like it was yesterday. One evening, she spent the night. It was a cold rainy evening and that normally played a bit of havoc with her car. On this particular evening, I messed with her carb. It was amazing what a few turns of the mixture screws would do. She never caught on, she just thought she had a crappy car. The next morning, for some reason her car was especially hard starting. In fact, for some strange reason, it kept loading up and stalling. Geee, I wonder why. She came back to my apartment and told me he car wouldnt stay running. I was just getting into the shower (not really) or so it appeared, I was actually watching her starting her car from my window. I told her she should try to really rev it up and see if that fixes it. I also told her if it didn't stay running, I would help her after my shower. I watched from the window as she went back to her car and stomped the guts out of it! It was fantastic. From that day on, any time her car even remotely misbehaved, to the floor her foot would go. I dont care when, where or who was around. I remember one time at the grocery store. I waited in her car while she went in. I gave the pedal a few pumps before she got back just to watch the show. Needless to say, a great show it was. After a several tries, she slammed it to the floor and kept it there while cranking. When it started, she never let up. It was like 10 seconds of wide open throttle. The funny thing was some old man was walking behind her car just as it started. He ran like hell! It was funny and sexy at the same time. So many stories of her are going through my head now. Thanks for bringing back the memories!
