Please elaborate on where Americans lie if they vote for Senator Kerry.

So, if at one time you were prolife, and over time changed your political views and became prochoice...and a real advocate for it....are you stabbing people in the back?  If you were once a carnivore, and then became a vegitarian, once a democrat and now a republican....etc etc  People change their views all of the time.  Kerry volunteered for service, and was perhaps alarmed by what he saw once on active duty.  Vietnam was a horror show and affected an entire nation on deep levels, as well as individuals (why didn't Bush serve or Cheney)

Kerry came back from Vietnam disgusted by how political it was.  throwing his medals did not lesson why he received them, only that he viewed the source that gave them as corrupt.  With what is going on in Iraq, I have no doubt some soldiers will feel the same, and may even protest, unless things really start to turn around.

Understand, I am not a Kerry supporter, and even 7 months from Nov, don't know a whole lot of his views other than the mudslinging that is going on between both sides.  I do think Bush will win, though the polls show they are in a dead heat (let's hope we don't re-visit 2000, in which Gore won more of the popular vote)!

Just ask yourself, who would Osama vote for, then go with the other guy. LOL

Being married to a VN vet. makes any discussion like this hard, but you're right cookie, there are 2 sides.

You know, I look at what we went through an what the guys and gals are going through now, (the late news here just announced the death of a friend of mine I talked into joining the "Rangers" their base was hit by a missle today) anyway, I see this, then look at my kids, and wonder just what will be left for them and their kids.

Thanks Jim. and I know exactlt what you mean about having your health. Memoriaal weekend we rode to a big bike party in Springfield IL. the Viet Nam vets. MC was there, Saturday night a bunch of us sat down and next thing we knew, we were all taking turns, remembering and telling a story, good, bad, or indifferent. Wives, like Ice, sat in stunned silence, and to see the biggest meanest biker you could imagine with tears rolling down his cheeks.............................

If you go to the wall, make sure you have some one to hold on to.

Now I gotta stop.

I hope that it is NOT the last time that you write about this.  We are all in awe of what we owe to our Veterans, and we need to see this, hear it, and try to understand it although we never will.

Most of all, we need to remember, to appreciate, and in order to do that, we need to be reminded.

Our board is your board, so please keep letting us know why we need to be so thankful for our freedom, for our Vets (P.O.W. and M.I.A.'s), and for our troops around the world.

I love you guys and appreciate everything that you have done in service of our country.  You are the bravest men I know.

God Bless You All.

Send your letters of support to our troops!

Let it flow, brother, or you will be buku dinkydia (crazy, for those who don't know) Around here we have a summer thing called "drop-zone" some of the SF guys still do HALO jumps, unfortunately I don't think Ice will let me this year, so we'll be the with the ground crew. May 15th in our little town we dedicated a Veterans Memorial park, complete with Cobra gunship. I found myself and 2 others giving a guided tour. With our sons and daughters at our sides and then a second time with the Boyscouts and a few parents. Unfortunately we also heard the "cat calls" while doing this.

But my friend, although we have never met we know each other, and as fate should have it we are about 2 hours from each other. That being said, I submit the following invitation...............

If you want to go to the Wall, you call Me, I will go with you, so will Ice, You and I will make that walk together, we will find our fallen brothers, Together, we will remember, TOGETHER! and we will leave knowing they will never be forgotten in our hearts.

Jim: (I hope you don't mind that), Take Mickey at his word, if you want to go, he will. So will I if it helps. Try this link,,, http://www.thevirtualwall.org/view/view_index.htm

Being married Nam vet is in the least an expeience, the coal black stare, the commical "off duty" stories, the happy home comming to family followed by the agony of public oppinion, and on the Memorial weekend ride, the heartwrenching night of stories that lasted till sun-up. Then at 10 the next day, the brotherhood of soldiers stood silently in front of their bikes, hats off, heads bowed and a deathly silent hush fell over a 26 acre campground, an old fraid POW/MIA flag was lowered and a new one put in it's place. Even the non riding supercampers were silent and watched as this montage of Harley riders paid their respects to fallen brothers. And when the new flag was in place they formed to lines for a rolling handshake, the thunder of bikes filled the air, they past each other hands outstretched and some teary eyed, a light tap and a nod of the head the lines ended and we all headed for the exit, all to go back to our everday mundane lives. Some of us formed up and road for miles, others went their separate ways, but for as long as I can remember not a word was spoken. When Mick split the pack and left me and gypsylady to ride together I noticed all the guys with the Vietnam patches had formed at the front of the pack. Gypsy then took the lead of what ws now the second pack of bikes and slowed us all down so the Vets. could lead the way, as all of our Vets have. For the next 100 miles we had 2 packs, the front was lead by a single bike, a world war II Vet, with an empty side car, one of the guys told me later, when we stopped, it was like a silent aggreement to let him lead, on the side of his side car was no more fitting a saying for the formation they had taken.  "Missing Man".

I received a very nice letter today from a fan in Germany.  He had some "usual" questions (more revving kinda stuff)...but at the end of his letter he added this PS and I thought this was a good thread to post it in:

"P.S.Thanks again for helping the free world out,no matter what some people may say.

The US helped us Germans a lot in the past, and it is not Coca Cola or McD I`m talking about.
It`s a shame that nearly only your troops are standing in the fire..."

A friend of ours is an officer in the naval reserve. A few weeks ago, he was attending a conference that included admirals in both the US and the French navies. At a cocktail reception, our friend found himself in a small group that included an admiral from each of the two navies. The French admiral started complaining that whereas Europeans learned many languages, Americans only learned English. He then asked. "Why is it that we have to speak English in these conferences rather than you have to speak French?" Without even hesitating, the American admiral replied. "Maybe it is because we arranged it so that you did not have to learn to speak German." The group became silent.
