My mom used to complain a lot about her Oldsmobile station wagon.  As frequently as I actually witnessed her or my step sister struggle to start that car, I heard her tell a story complaining how it died in the middle of the road, wouldn't start after work, while on an errand or while showing a house.
Retrospectively I remember one of her coworkers was a guy.  Coincidence or not, retrospectively it seemed like she was asked to drive them to lunch or to show properties more than her fair share.

One incident occurred when she showed a house with him and a couple that met them at their real estate office.  I remember because I was notified while standing in line waiting to be picked up from school that she was running late.

She arrived about an hour and a half late pissed and described the entire event.  "Bob and I went to show a few of houses to a couple this afternoon."  "My car was running fine, but when we tried to leave the last house it wouldn't start."  "I was so embarrassed!  All 3 of them were in the car with me.  I thought it would never start!"  "I had to drop them off back at the office, and I came as soon as I could."  "Sorry I'm late."

Great stories...It sounds like you're a little suspicious of Bob... do you think he knew that your Moms car was unreliable and just went along hoping for a show or do you think he manipulated the car to create a show?.. I guess we will never know.. but it seems like he was around for most of her issues at work...

Yep.  I wonder if Bob had a thing for women cranking cars that wouldn't start.  He would not have had to manipulate that Oldsmobile too much.  It was pretty unreliable and hard to start.  There was a narrow window to get it running or it would flood.  Mom hated that car.

Yeah, my money is on Bob gleefully anticipating the car giving your attractive Mom a very hard time.
Bet the ranch on that.

Did she flood it a lot?
Would it vapor lock in the summer?

Did she like to wear sandals without hose?  Nail polish?  And we’re he soles wrinkly?
