This is a short contribution relating recent events in my neighborhood.

Three years ago longtime friends living across the street moved away. Shortly afterward a young couple in their mid-thirties with two small daughters moved in. Quite reserved, it took them and us awhile before becoming comfortable with each others' presence. Finally, over the course of a few months, we became familiar on a first name basis and would wave to each other in passing and occasionally stop to share new of the neighborhood and politely inquire how each was doing.

I work from home and recently have noticed something quite unusual. The woman drives a late model Subaru Outback which, of course, is fuel injected and one of the most reliable cars on the road. A few weeks ago I was rounding the corner walking my dog when I saw her come out of the front door of her house and briskly stride to her car parked in the driveway. She glanced my way just before sitting down, so I know she knew I was there. A few seconds later I heard the engine crank over with only two revolutions. It didn't start. She tried again and it started promptly and she drove off. I didn't give it much thought and know for a fact it started on the first try after that whenever I happened to be in the vicinity without her being aware of my presence.

Then, two days ago, I was returning again from walking my dog. Her car was parked in the driveway with the nose pointing out into the street. She came around the corner to get in and again noticed me and waved with a smile. I waved back, not thinking any more about it until once again I heard the two or three revolution crank followed by silence. I glanced her way, trying not to be obvious. Lo and behold! She was bouncing and I could distinctly hear her pedal being slapped to the floorboard under the pressure of her right foot. I instantly became hard, waiting to hear and see more. She was looking directly at me! How did she know??

The next attempt resulted in a successful start and she drove off.

As I reflected on this a few things are certain: 1. it is extremely unusual for these cars to required more than one attempt to start 2. On both occasions, she knew I was there 3. Her bouncing and pumping the gas pedal is extremely unusual for 30 somethings who don't even remember carbureted cars requiring such actions.

She is thin with long dishwater blonde hair and quite sultry in her movements. I am old enough to be her father and know there is no sexual attraction, yet why would she do this in my presence (assuming it was somehow intentional)? It's almost as though she reads my mind, able to see my proclivities and addressing them in the most subtle but powerful manner.

I find myself wanting more. It makes me wish I had a WiFi device capable of disabling her car with the flick of a switch! Oh, well, one can only wish and hope.

She was wearing a tight fitting top, blue jeans, and silver flip flops.

I have had a couple of instances when it seemed like women knew I was watching them cranking. I posted a recent story about a teacher whose Olds wagon wouldn't start. I was riding shotgun--- it was like she was watching me out of the corner of her eye, as I stared at her foot as she was holding and pumping the accelerator trying to start the car. She was really embarrassed and was unusually desperate to get the car to start, not only so she could take us back to school, but to get out of the uncomfortable situation. I kept waiting for her to ask me "Why are you staring at my foot?"

Hi Pedalpusher,  I am quite envious of what you have been able to experience with this new neighbor of yours.  As you know since we've been friends now for several years, my actual last experience with a female neighbor having repeated problems in easily being able to get her car started, then when I was living in an apartment complex, took place in the early 1990s.  The gal, then in her early 20s drove an old very-out-of-tune mid 1970s Toyota.  Just coming off of a rather nasty split up with her live in boyfriend I was to have the pleasure in helping her try to get the Toyota of hers started one day  - more or less my watching her from just outside her open driver's side door.

She was wearing a blouse outfit, blue-jean mini-skirt, beige/suntan tone pantyhose encasing her legs and ballet flats on her feet.  She repeatedly twisted the key in the ignition during many failed attempts that is until with my suggestion that she actually give it some gas.  As I was to observe earlier, her right foot was completely off of the gas pedal initially.  In addition to that as I remember she also said that before trying her initial starting attempt she never primed the engine by pumping the gas pedal several times.  Thus with a completely cold engine, no fuel had been making its way up from the gas tank.  With my suggestion that she prime the engine, pumping the gas pedal several times and then holding the pedal partially down as she twisted the key in the ignition eventually this young gal did get her Toyota started.

However over several other incidents that were to take place as she could never get her car started easily, she was to transform into a young woman who ended up over-pumping the gas pedal during repeated cranking attempts and as you could guess the result was she usually flooded her car's engine.  As she then would call me for help, I had to tone down her sudden urge to pump the gas pedal though it did look sexy and I did become aroused watching her.  Sadly, within about a month the Toyota died on her and she got rid of it. She then moved out of her apartment shortly after that.

Ah, the good old days when women often had issues getting their cars started.

It sounds as if that new neighbor of yours has not experienced the last time when her Subaru won't start for her during a first attempt. I hope for your sake that you'll be able to witness this woman having further issues!
