I heard today that the Feds are after GM again that they went back and looked at the incident with the cobalt and all the deaths it caused from the faulty ignitions and they are considering giving GM a criminal charge which could cost them as much as 1.2 billion dollars if this holds together

If all the allegations prove true, then GM deserves whatever outcome happens.   That deal with the key insert; that was their big fix?   Seriously?   If GM was so sure, then for the pennies those inserts cost, they should have been mailed to every owner of a GM vehicle from those model years affected by the faulty ignition switch.   Instead, the dealers are told to just hand them out only to those who complain about the car shutting off.    And even then, then why wasn't Brooke Melton given those key inserts instead of being told that her FI needed cleaning?   The key inserts were certainly not a permanent fix, not even close, but they could have possibly saved her life as an investigation found that her ignition had moved to the ACC position from the RUN position.

I'm not trying to minimize the tragedy at all, but i do find it ironic that the federal gov't took over GM and now is crucifying them for faulty and dangerous ignition switches...anyone who has dealt with the gov't on any significant level is aware just how utterly incompetent most gov't agencies are, so it's not a shock to me that this happened on their watch.

Well the government didn't do the bailout for GM until 2009 however the ignition problems date back to about 2005 when the cobalt first started coming out so its was in my opinion nothing to do with the government i think it was GM's fault
