I recently read thispoignant verse again "for the first time", and got a bit choked up by its truth...as well as extremely motivated to continue with my jobas a military pilot under training (junior to most if not all of you with military service, and not of United Statesservice per se, but learning proudly to defend diplomatic values), AND of course applaudALL those with ANY armed forces service time under their belt. Here goes....many may recognize the poem...(to me, soldier = any soldier/sailor/aircrew/support personnel/all standing for freedom.)It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us the freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us the freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who gives us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protestor to burn the flag.- Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMCDespite the political messes of today's world, the message of the above remains the same and always will.Captain Chivalrous
